Scared?
Wes Craven, famous horror film director points out, “Millions of people may watch zombies on TV and in movies, but that’s manufactured fear. We don’t really worry about encountering the undead in our day-to-day activities.” Our current world, however, has become increasingly frightening with COVID, climate disasters and intense division amongst us.
The imagined fear of death is at the heart of what we call anxiety. And there’s a lot of that around these days. David Borgenicht, co-author of the Worst-Case Scenario series suggests once we arm ourselves with knowledge of how to respond or actually live through a situation, our fears aren’t so scary… He reports that being stuck in a plummeting elevator is a common fear, although the odds of it actually happening are minuscule. On the other hand, once you-know “the best place to be is on the floor bracing yourself,” you-feel prepared to do the best you-can, which helps diffuse significant anxiety. Similarly, when we understand ways to keep ourselves healthy and safe during this Pandemic, we feel safer. We can make decisions about how much risk we are comfortable taking given the range of choices and their level of risk. For example, I feel much less anxious doing things now that I know masks help contain virus droplets. I have some control.
Anxiety at it’s worst is worrying about a situation, which feels potentially life-changing and yet not consciously-knowing how to manage it successfully. You end up in a blurry experience of needing to make a decision to save your life, yet you-don’t know how.
As you-approach the night of the living dead, I send you a meditation to identify the source of current anxiety lurking in your body. Whether it’s worry-about health, relationships, money or something you haven’t consciously recognized, you have inner resources greater than it. Once your imagination identifies the specific fear, your intellect goes about solving the problem and anxiety fades.

Noticing how it feels to rest your attention on-the base of your spine, you sense-the whole inside of your body… all of it… every bit… until you sense-a fuzzy white light-that seems to fade in and out…
Giving your full-attention to this energy, you notice every detail of the fuzziness and the speed and pattern of the fading in and going out…
Calling in a virtual mentor to be with you in this adventure, a safe, loving and powerful figure appears in your mind-just like that…
Allowing whoever shows up first whether you know them or not… you sense-their appearance and where they are in relationship to you… R L front back above below
Noticing how it-feels to no longer be alone… you receive this-presence-as fully-as possible…
You and your-virtual mentor move together into this blurry white, flashing-energy… take a minute… As you are here… one word pops into your mind of what is scaring you right now…
As you receive-this word letting go of any desire to edit… you and your mentor settle more deeply into the energy of it-and allow it as best as you can…
As you are-in it… a new word pops into your mind of what you are feeling now…
Receiving this feeling fully… you sense a dynamic shift…
One more time, you move your attention into this word where an image of you having already faced this fear and thrived… magically appears in your mind…
You notice how this victorious you looks, walks, talks, and decides…
Step into this image and look out these vibrant eyes,
as you sense how your body feels now…
Feeling the support of your virtual mentor and looking out of your courageous eyes… you applaud yourself for facing this fear and succeeding…
