Recently, I visited Normandy France where 150,000 Allied troops invaded a 50-mile shoreline on June 6, 1944 to combat Nazi Germany and reclaim world freedom. My dad was a 19 year-old soldier among their ranks and fortunately returned home alive. Gazing at the beaches that became graveyards for almost 9,000 young men, I felt the sadness of war and the fog that hung over the horizon seemed eerily fitting.
The war is over, yet have we healed? A couple of young Germans who are graduate school friends with my son expressed continued guilt and shame over WWII. As they talked about their feelings, what had been hidden was released, forgiveness acknowledged and inter-generational healing happened.
During RIM® sessions, inter-generational wounds appear often, although usually a complete surprise to the client. I’ve seen people go back in time to liberate grandparents from concentration camps and slaves from the south. In their imagined process there comes a time and place where terror is frozen in memory; it’s like the “pause” button keeps the most awful scene of the movie continuously on the screen. Amazingly, I’ve witnessed the most atrocious acts be healed in a moment with sincere dialogue. The oppressed become empowered by having a voice and being heard and the aggressor is forgiven by realizing regret and remorse. As the “pause” button is undone, we move through the terror.
The same is true in your life. Your worst memories can be healed. Right now, with whom do you need to talk or listen in order to regain peace of mind? This month’s meditation is designed to guide you to these insights.

As you gently close your eyes… your focus is on your breath as it flows in… and out… Letting your attention rest in your heart… you easily inhale through the front of your heart and exhale out the back side of your heart.
Breathing in and out of your heart three times… your imagination calls up a knowing of whom you are not at peace in this moment… Welcome this image/sensing/word/feeling/thought as best as you can until it forms before you… (pause till you have it)
As you sense this person, go ahead and speak it in your mind or write it down on paper… “What I need to say to you is… “
Continue speaking to them until you feel complete…
Finish with… “What it feels like to say all this to you is… “
Looking over at the listener, you sense them receiving what’s been expressed like a stream of colored energy flowing from you into them…as you notice the color and quality…
look over at this person and notice how they appear now? Notice how you feel differently… and If there’s anything else that wants to be spoken to them… go ahead and speak it now…
You are an amazing being of resilience… You were born with the innate software to repair physical and emotional injuries and you are using it now to recover your natural state of peace. ?Find this feeling of peace in your body… where is it? As you sense it, move into the center of it and splash around freely and joyously… You naturally connect with who you really are… down in the center of your being you are love!
