With each new and beautiful morning, speak your intention for Peace.
Peace is a commonly used term, yet what does it mean?
As John Lennon once said,
“If someone thinks that peace and love are just a cliche that must have been left behind in the 60s, that’s a problem. Peace and love are eternal.”
Yet, where does peace fit into our chaotic, conflictual, yet beautiful world?
Here Are 3 Simple Ways You Can Help Create Peace On Earth:
1. Make Peace with Yourself.
Inner wars waste your precious time and energy. If you notice that you’re fighting a part of your self inside; a feeling, a habit, a memory, take some time to feel love and acceptance for this part of yourself. You’ll find that the energy you once used to resist uncomfortable feelings within yourself can be freed up through the healing power of love.
2. Make Peace with Others.
As the poet Rumi wrote, “Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and rightdoing there is a field. I’ll meet you there. When the soul lies down in that grass, the world is too full to talk about.”
3. Live Fully.
As author Virginia Wolfe discerned, “You cannot find peace by avoiding life.”
Peace isn’t simple or automatic, it demands consistent attention, reflection, accountability and action. Yet, it yields extraordinary fruits of ecstatic feelings and personal success.
Come join me in a commitment to practice the art of peace, even though it’s likely we will be tested time and time again. Life is like that: emotionally messy. Nothing personal, just the ordinary process of living similar to how your house gets dusty. Let’s stay focused on growing ourselves. Will you join me?
The following song is a recording of my daughter’s touring choir singing “Peace on Earth”—It has an out-of-this-world quality that can transport you to that space of peace that lives in your body—no matter how small or large.
